will 26" GT Peace accept 29" wheels?

the frame for the peace and peace 9er look to be exactly the same. can anyone confirm this? i'm wondering if i can buy the 26" peace and later put 700c wheels on it. i want a 29er, but i can get last years 26er for cheaper, plus i already have 700c wheels.

No...they're not the same. You might be able to fit 700c wheels with narrow road/cross tires in there, but not real 29er tires...

I am of the opinion this is a good idea for XC use.

You'll need disc brakes of course.

I am of the opinion that this is idiotic for XC use, unless you define "XC" as rails-to-trails style gravel paths.

The two frames are not the same, and normal, descent 29er tires will not fit.

Well, we're all entitled to our opinion, but based on yours there are an awful lot of idiotic riders around here.

Some of these idiots (i.e. the guys running 700C cross tires in XC races) race at the provincial and national level, and I myself have built up a rather idiotic mountain bike I'll post sometime.
