hardtail for 12/24

Does anyone here use there hardtail for any enduro events? I am thinking about doing a 12 hr. coming up in september and I ride hardtail and wondered if that would be fine.
Do the courses suite riding a hardtail (no real large obstacles) typically? How about for even 100 mile events.

I'm aware my ass will pay dearly, but are there really any drawbacks to riding hardtail?

Vote for him while you're at it, he's a wrench at the shop I frequent.

It really depends on the course, but for whatever it's worth, the top guys in the gary fisher 29er squad ride singlespeed superflys, which are hardtails, but 29ers.
