5th element air

I just got my first fs bike and it's a Santa Cruz super light with a 5th element rear suspension.
When I push down on the bike or sit on the rear suspension the bike doesn't even budge. Is the shock blown or does it just need to be adjusted?

the guy i got it from said he hasn't rode the bike sense last fall and it did work at that time.
