Anyone using Alfine hub with disc brakes?
Hi,
I know the Alfine comes with the ability to work with disc brakes but my question is. Can you use any 6 bolt ISO disc brake on the hub? Looking at all schematics it looks like you have to use a Shimano supplied disc brake, however, also on the schematic it looks like the inside of this may be removable and you can add your own disc brake?? Or is the shimano one fixed directly on there and you cant remove it?
Thanks for any advice.

I'm no Alfine expert [I've got a Nexus 8 and Rohloff], but I was looking at an Alfine and it seemed to me you needed to use a Shimano centrelock disc rotor or an adaper to use a 6 bolt disc rotor.

Ya that is what I was afraid of. Shimano does not seem to make an adapter and the rotor that they make appears to be a standard rotor attached to an adapter, at least from the way it looks in the drawings. But, I think the rotor is probably permanantly fastend to the adaptor, i.e. one unit.. vs being able to pull off just the rotor and slap on a 3rd party. Guess the only way to really find out is to order the rotor and have a looksy.
