Thanks for the clarification, Ben. I do truthfully appreciate the opportunity learn from other BF participants.

force and movement differs between the two pistons. force per area i guess

nm: i don't feel like discussing physics cause i am tired. plus i am not thinking correctly, it's been a long time. but the comparison you made to cable brakes i don't think is correct. there is too much other stuff in play like pivot points, etc. it is not just as simple as a two piston physics problem

https://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasc...9/eng99054.htm Hydraulics explained.
Given the sized and lever that can be applied successfully to a bicycle brake. I'm pretty sure you can assume you will apply more force at the brake pad using a hydraulic system from ones hand than mechanical.

Disc brakes rock. Comparing the v-brakes on you bmx bike to a good set of discs on an mtb isn't going to get you anywhere. Two different bikes seeing very different kinds of riding, if used for their intended purposes.
Hydro vs. mechanical is a can of worms. Hydro? Many, many options. My preference. Mech? Avid BB7 are the best, by a long shot.
If you're still looking at buying a bike and upgrading everything, save a bit more cash to get the nicer built bike to start with. You'll end up paying less money in the long run. Or buy what you can now, don't worry about upgrading until something breaks. Then replace the broken crap with nicer.
And yeah: dude. Come on. Doing a bit of searching isn't too much to ask. All the info is out there. In the time spent starting all these threads and replying to various answers, you could have found the info on your own, pretty easily.
It's not rocket surgery.

Well I know that if I were to put "you are acting younger than me", one of them would say: "is that even possible?", then they would all "lol". To be honest, I don't really give a **** about what they say. I have them in my ignore list, so everything is fine...for now.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.
I think you have all been sucked in hook, line and sinker with a Pete sock puppet.
