is it worth it?

I have a diamondback response sport with spinner edge 4 forks on it. I usually ride single track with a medium to extreme amount of rocks, and at most three and half foot drops, as well as commuting to campus. I have been kinda thinking about uprgrading my fork for awhile but cant really spend more than 250 to 300 dollars right now. I was wondering if for the kind of riding i do, the extra performance that i got out of a new fork would actually be worth the money, or if a new fork would be nicer but not so much to justify the cost. By the way I ride everyday, and am usually on the trails at least three days a week. I dont really know much about any kind of aftermarket parts so if you think it would be worth the money any suggestions?
