False.

That would kill me.

That was always my fear too.

When it happened, however, I landed front wheel first, the wheel turned sideways, I flipped over the bars, the bike swung around and buried the rear QR in my helmet, and I separated my shoulder at all 3 attachment points. My right shoulder blade sticks out 1" past my left now, so I'm always sitting wonky. Oh, and my shoulder pops every time I move it, and it gets really achy when it's cold.

Needless to say, I stick to more tame things now.

Well, that makes me feel better (not you getting hurt), as now I realize I wont break my neck when the back of my head hits the ground (well, now that I said that, I'm going to die). But right now, all of our local DJ are in poor condition due to rain.

The key is to start small and work your way up. This builds confidence and the skills needed to go bigger later. Hopefully your dirt juamp place has a progression of beginner to intermediate to expert lines so that you can do this. Park City, Utah is an excellent example. Note the nice beginner small roller/tabletops to the right. As you gain confidence, you can work over to an intermediate line (left in the pic):

Once you nail the tranny consistently, it's time to work over to an expert line. Now you gotta work on your pump, too, so that you have enough momentum to boost the next lip:

I've been at this particular one on vacation. Played there two different evenings and had a blast. Seemed to be set up fine for BMXs and MTBs. Never got over to the far left line - - gap was just beyond my comfort level at the time. But next time we go down, well . . . .

I cant see any of the pics, but I understand what you are saying. Unfortunately, they just have really small berms and full sized DJs, but this weekend some friends and I plan to go down to the woods and build up some DHish trails. The ground is wet enough that I think we'll try to make some jumps with trannys. I've come to the unfortunate realization that I cant say I'm being held back from jumping by my bike.

There, I copied them over to my photobucket so you should see them now. Hit your 'refresh.'

Hey, thanks. I defiantly think I'd be more comfortable with table tops and I have hit semi large table tops fairly well. Maybe a couple of well placed 2 X 4s or a piece of plywood could help.
