Damn if you and me know, I rode 10 or so miles with it bleeding, but that is what the doc said and I'm just a dumbass tool and die guy, he has the doctorate. I might just listen to him. What do you think?

He probably wants the gash to have time to close without stress to reduce scarring. I say screw him. Riding is fun and chicks dig scars .

If its not stiched up, i dont see why you need to wait ten days. Id just put a big bandaid on it and go ride But then again i dont know how serious it is from just the pic.

I've ridden with much worse. You know you got a good one when your shoes start to fill with blood. That does not look very deep. Put a band-aid on it and go ride!

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago to my knee in a dh race. Cut it open where it was questionable whether I should get a stitch or two. I chose not to. Anyway, I found this gel called Carracyn Gel which is a hydrogel and heals wounds incredibly quickly. My is a nurse so she got some for free, so im not sure how much it costs but might be worth checking out.

Dude, that looks like a flesh wound. I would probably ride on it in a few days, depending on if it starts to bleed or not. The Doc is a smart man, he doesn't want it to reopen, you may cause more damage, but its your personal choice on how big of a scar you want.

Looks like you got bit by the pedals? Thats one reason I went clipless, pedal doesn't bite you.

The doc didn't say you had a hematoma, did he? This is blood in the muscle and may take some time to repair itself, but still 10 days sounds like a little long.

If you see John Boy over in Graham tell 'im Moonshot says "hey"!

The doc probably figured that if he said 10 days you might take 1 or 2 days off, whereas if he had said 1 or 2 you would have been riding later that day.

Haha, that's so true Blwyn. I know I'd consider taking a couple days off, but still be a badass and not adhere to the full 10.

I busted my shin open to the bone at my workplace, and was out biking the next day where I took a spill and ripped right around where my puncture wound already was. Never seen so much blood before coming out of one leg... I never went to the doctor though, and now I have a wicked tear drop scar, and scrape marks around it. It kind of looks stupid, but fits me well.

No riding for 10 days??? I broke my collarbone 10 days ago and I went for a 12 mile ride on Sunday. Now of course the doc said no riding for 4-6 weeks. I couldn't help myself - it was like 80 here on Sunday. Good luck waiting 10 days for that. I'd be out the next day

..no riding only if you reinjure yourself!

I've had worse than that (rocks in my knee), and I still went riding! Just be careful not to scratch up the same place!
