Cool MTB pedals...

Spotted these cool pedals on a group ride in Sedona. Met the guy who makes them locally here and we'll be hooking up with him in the next day or two to get all the details.

Interesting to see what creative people come up with...:thumb:

And Dean started an interesting thread here back in Oct. of '07:

Personally, I'm not crazy about the semi-proprietary design (needing crankarms that are bored out for the Flypaper inserts); but at least they are Gravity cranks, which I run anyway. The pedals themselves seem quite cool.

I dig the Fly paper pedals' Fly look, But honestly wonder about their strength. The shimano DX is just as bling and looks much more substantial

Wow, what a meat cleaver when your foot slips off. Ouch!

All this Fly talk is making me want to put the screens back up.

Those are compartively benign. These on the other hand, are quite intimidating. Trust me.

i think once they figure out a way to run these on cranks that are threaded for the standard pedal size, they will be much more popular

martinus 03-02-09 08:33 PM

LOL, I think you guys mean http://images.google.com/images?um=1...watter&spell=1 pedals ...

ed 03-02-09 09:22 PM

I'd buy 'em if they fit my crankset. I would bore out my freakin' steel inserts for some silly pedals, man. What if I decided to go back to clipless later?

There's just a PIMP'ness that the DX doesn't possess:

For $35 bucks or so, these look nice:

Though they are a "loose ball bearing" design. And I hate that little plastic'y end-cap.

ed 03-02-09 09:29 PM

Azonic's "look" kinda cool, but may go beyond functional striving for the aesthetics:

I do be diggin' the fiddy-fiddy's, but I've heard "stories" of broken ones:

These are some of my flavy'est...DMR V8's:

And if you like those...v12's:

...but this could go on forever.

Naw, I tend not to judge upon first impressions.
We all get Judged in the end.

But with that out of the way, let me correct myself, it is my buddies farm, we (friends) just help him out.

Fly Paper or Fly Swatter? I'd like to try it though, just to know what it feels like.

I'll give you that, D...they are cool. But I was trying to keep the budget down below the level of needing to finance

Syncro's $280
Straitline $120
Sunline $107
Twenty6 Rally $175-$420!!! ($265 in the PIMP'ness pictured)

The craziest I posted was the NS at $88, but I'd just as soon go with the $60 DMR's...who the crap can afford $280 flats?
