I need some help choosing
I'm riding a Raleigh SC30 for a commuter bike. The shifter bracket that bolts to the handlebars broke. I need a recommentadation for a replacement shifter and while I'm at it, I want to install a better quality brake levers at the same time. I realize this bike isn't worth any high $$$ upgrades but it's cheaper than replacing it with a more expensive bike, which I'm not going to do. I've got a nice set of Shimano thumb shifters I've been thinking about using. Will someone give me some recommendations for replacement brake levers and shifters?
Thanks,
Thanks,

you could use your trigger shifter but you would need a new grip cause that one will be too short (no biggie) i personally prefer trigger shifters but some prefer grip shifters on the front shifter b/c withe the nicer shifters you make micro shifts within gears to prevent cross chaining and open up more gear combos, if you wanna get a grip shifter i'd recomend a sram x-5 grip shfiter, you could get a fancier one but idk if you wanna spend more, but i wouldn't go lower than that
as for break levers i'd just pick up a set of avid fr-5 levers, they are like $15 (or less some places) and work well, avids speed dial levers have an adjustable modulation for $25 but other than that they seem to feel the same as the fr5s do

I sure wished I knew how to make pictures smaller.
