Heh heh...you crazy Canadians!!!

Yep, I'm a fan of clipless pedals, but I still go back to my flatties every once in a while for a change.

I'd love to take you up on that challenge though!!!

Ride hard!

I'm sorry, but you are sadly misguided. The ONLY good looking women are in the USA.

If I lived in Canada I bet I could kick your *** going down a snowy mountain on a BMX.

According to most of the commercials I've seen I'd have to say yes.

Sure most MTBrs use clipless but take up trials or drop off a rooftop and the first thing you'll be told is 'ditch the clipless'.

Won't the big kids make fun of you?

Well first of all I ride both clipless and flats. Clipless on my hardtail and flats on the Stinky and on the BMX.

Bikes: Lots

I've had this discussion numberous times with the Manager of my LBS.

If they were my kids out there, NO WAY!!!!

It's ultimately up to the parents, but most I've met are a bunch of idiots and only care about winning, not health!

The advantage you get from riding clipless, is insignificant compared to the risk involved. I think the NBL and the ABA need to restrict use of clipless to 12 & Over and then only the expert classes! There is no need for a beginner or intermediate level racer to use clipless!

Clipless for Mtn Bikes and Road bikes makes sense. You're on the bike for long stretches and most rides are for long periods of time. You have time to click in and ride. Most rides you stay clipped in and only unclip if going into a turn too hard and fast.

On a BMX track it's an all out sprint! On a long track, the moto might last a minute! The start is always a hill, a bunch of jumps and bermed turns. The jumps are getting bigger and the turns are being paved! This makes the racing even faster and the air over jumps higher and longer! If my kid were out there racing (he's not even two yet!) I would refuse to let him ride clipless, at least until he's a teenager. I've seen too many young kids (I'm talking 6-9 years old) that are getting hurt BAD at these tracks!

I hate imposing rules to everyone, but I will not use clipless on a BMX track and won't let my kid (If he starts racing!)
