Need suggestions for my next bike. $700 budget.

Planning on just riding some local trails around the bay area, also planning on doing an 8 hour endurance race later this month. What are the best bikes out there for around $700? So far I have only heard of the F5 and F7 being recommended here, any other bikes that are comparable or even better than those two in that price range of $600-$800?

Also, how do the F5 and F7 compare to the specialized Rock hopper and Hard rock??

The voice of experience.

It is better to look good, than to be good.
