Just picked this up after seeing Leadville 100. $400 out the door at Performance haha. FD: Deore RD: XT Cranks: Deore Fork: Rock Shox Tora Wheels: Deore and WTB Speed Disc Shifters: LX Brakes: Hayes Stroker Ryde Cockpit: Easton EA30 Seemed like a steal for $400 :) Now i have to learn how to ride it haha. |

I agree. Fantastic setup for the picture as well.

I just finished this last night, still needs fine tuning but I just had to ride it. I picked up the frame over a year ago and finally felt up to the task. It is a custom Mikkelsen (not built for me) hardtail. Mid 90's? Reynolds? pretty light frame. A donor bike provided the SRAM X-7 derailleurs, Firex crankset, BB7 front disc and front wheel. I added a Single Digit 7 v-brake for the rear. I wanted a light, rigid fork and thought I would try one of these (subtle they are not.) I took it for a quick spin around the block and liked the ride. I still have a suspension fork if I decide to go that way, but I wanted a quick, light trail bike.

No more stealth bike.

Have you had a chance to ride it yet? How does the fork feel?
|
I'm living in the northeast now, so we got hammered with snow and the trails are covered. I've only had a chance to ride it on the road...couple stairs, some small-ish urban ledges, etc. Super plush compared to the stock fork that came with the bike (RST Launch). It raised the front end of the bike a little, though it feels like less than I expected, since I had practically no sag with the old fork (Launch wasn't set correctly, and I wasn't about to waste money on a new coil for that fork). Looking forward to getting some trail time.
|
Well it sounds pretty promising for the little amount you spent on it!
|
I just started a few months ago so my ride is entry level. No upgrades, but it gets the job done. I am not ready to start spending thousands of dollars on a bike.

MMMm. New Elixir-R brakes and some SRAM 10 speed goodies. No trail time yet though. 29#6oz. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMG_0022-1.jpg New Transition chainguide - simple, cheap, and loads lighter than the Truvativ Boxguide it replaced. 35#3oz. Neither is getting any lighter without compromises I either am not willing to make in the parts spec, or in dollars spent. |
how many bikes do you own man?
