Not especially on point:

A while back I was on an expressway and I saw a motorcyclist on the other side of the road who
was standing straight up with his front wheel up in the air doing 45~50 mph moving with
the traffic. Looked weird...

waldo - - Best place to keep acceleration in check is to practice on a gentle up-slope. This gives your effort some resistance.
this is how I learned to ride wheelies on my 900RR but still can't do it on my MTB. When I got the bike I was showing off for my son and doing some wheelies and looped one flat to my back and head! "No Helmet" I gave it to him for the ride. One of the dumbest things I have done. Now I have to work through the fear thing all over again! It sucks being 31 I remember when falling down didn't hurt!

Look far ahead and keep focused on the "horizon".... maybe 100m in front or something but just keep your head up. As soon as you look down your going to loose balance.

PROGRESS REPORT!

My confedence is way up and so is the front wheel. Moved most of my practice to the grass at the local park which most of it is so hard packed it would feel like cement, its a mental thing I'm sure. The hardest thing for me is to remember to pedal. Until now everything has had a motor doing the work.

Congrats, keep practicing your wheelie-fu and one day you may be a master!

Kept my eyes on the horizon and trippled the distance of my longest one yet. I would go farther if I would allow myself to accelerate while doing it but I figure might as well take my time and learn them right.

Also MTNBIKER66 nice pic! Thats what im looking for. Is that a coaster?

Update looped one today!! It has been sprinkling on and off today. Rode over to the park and started again and went to high and attempted to step off the back onto wet grass. I will let your imagination do the rest.
The nice part was there was no one around to see it and now I wonder if no one saw it did it really happen? That reminds me I need to stain stick that shirt agian.
