For Racing Only ?

Will the carbon spontaneously combust if I use this for a relaxed, non-competitive ride ?

Yeah, I don't get that. Sun used to have a line of road racing rims that said that on their label. My only guess is it's a way for the manufacturer to offer super light stuff and not have people whining about it breaking sooner than normal equipment.

Intense's FRO line is lighter than the non-FRO bikes with the same name. There's no more aluminum AS-R, so I guess they're just trying to say it's more XC race bred than their ASR5.

And that bike is dead sexy.

C.F will not combust but you might find that your Relaxed ride is done nearer Race speed than before.

Or it may not

Could it be that they write that in there out of cockiness ? You know like......"no wimpy riding allowed on this bike" ?

Yeti's been using FRO for what 20 years now? Needs some classic Yeti turquoise. Hope you only like your saddle up high if you get that bike.

what's funny is that they would probably void the warranty if you told them you raced it.

Oh I see what you mean. It's a seat mast. You can't lower this. It is cut to fit you at the time of purchase and then it stays there permanently. Anyway as you see, this is a XC dedicated bike, so there is an advantage in that seat mast, in terms of giving the frame a stiffer feel.

Even on an xc bike I like the option of lowering my saddle. It's not a dedicated xc bike, it's a dedicated xc racing bike.

It's becoming a trendy thing lately. I've seen in person the 2010 offerings of Fuji and they're also going with the seat mast on their high end MTBs. There are mixed opinions about it out there. I for one, never adjust my seat height, and I ride high so my legs will stretch fully. So I wouldn't have a problem with a seat mast like that.

When I first got into mountain biking I was racing and doing less technical riding, now I don't race anymore and really enjoy lowering my saddle for a variety of reasons. I use a Gravity Dropper to make it easy, though. I can't imagine having a seat mast except maybe on a road bike.

Well, I like the stuff that is for 'black box racers'
But that Racing Ralph tire looks real fast!
Nevertheless, I think that bike would be much faster with streamers and a kickstand.

I thought every ride was a race.

Some with opponents, many without.
