What are the thoughts of the Nishiki mountain bikes that Dicks is selling now?

I have not looked at the particular bikes that they are selling now, but in the past they have been not so great. Maybe no better quality than the best Wallyworld bikes, but at a somewhat higher cost.

Nishiki used to be a good brand. I think they have not been good for a couple of decades now though.

The brand in the U.S. was owned by Derby Cycles (now Raleigh). They discontinued it in 2001. I don't know if these are Raleigh-made bikes or if someone just bought the name and is using it because of Nishiki's past reputation. Either way, the Nishiki bikes on Dick's website look like they are just another example of X-Mart bikes.
