Getting Back into it.

Hi, my names Johnny and I'm trying to get back into MTB, and need help picking out a hardtail. I've decided on getting a Specialized. But cant decide between 3 bikes. Hardrock Sport Disc, Rockhopper Comp Disc, and Rockhopper SL. I really don't want the $1100 Rockhopper because of how much it is... but I also don't want to go cheap. I was hoping i could get any tips or advice about these bikes or just about picking one out. Thank you.

Here are the specs.
Hardrock Sport Disc: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...enuItemId=9253

Rockhopper Comp Disc: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...enuItemId=9253

Rockhopper SL: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...enuItemId=9253

I say Hardrock would be okay but the Rockhopper comp disc would be better and the Rockhopper SL being a little much for the start... thats my vote in the box, i have no clue as i have just started into my biking career as well

Do you climb a lot and is weight important to you? Do you care about the difference between mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes? Those are the things I would ask in deciding between the Comp and the SL. I don't know what the price difference is or what your budget is, but I always buy as much bike as I can afford and never regret it. If the SL is really over budget, just rule it out. You have to draw the line somewhere and the Comp will be a fine bike. Also, if you are even considering the SL, I think you can rule out the Sport.

Damn! Finally went into the local bike shop and decided to get the Rockhopper Comp. Seeing them all in person I found that the SL is a little much to start with and the comp just shouted out pick me, pick me!
But, sadly, I went home with out it today. I realized that I had a couple more bills to pay.

But I will be back for her, I swear it...

ps: Thanks for the advice dark13star and Ara.

It's usually the middle one. Hope you get those bills worked out and get on the bike.
