comparable 29'ers...

so i'm upgrading from my 26", and in the market for a brand new 29". the one i've been contemplating the most is the Giant XTC 1 since my friend deals Giant and can get me a discount on his markup. He also deals Redline, but none of their models come anywhere near the XTC, maybe the D660 at best, but still doesn't do it for me. (although i really liked the monocog!).

i was thinking since i'm in the market for a brand new one with such a budget, why not compare some others to the XTC 1? What can i compare? So far, the tapered fork is my biggest selling point because i weigh about 200 lbs. and the fork bend might be an issue for me.

once i get my 29er, it will be THE bike (commuting, trails, group rides, travels, etc) because i just enjoy the geometry of a MTB over my road bike and i don't want to have to upgrade after a few years. i want this to be the last MTB i ever buy until the very remote future.

thanks guys!

A Niner Sir 9 is the most versatile 29er I've ever owned. It has an eccentric bottom bracket and horizontal dropouts so you can ride it single speed, fixed gear, IGH or derailleurs. Built with double-butted Reynolds 853. I have the small size since I'm 5'7" and the co-founder of Niner Bikes is only 5'6". This should be the LAST MTB you'll EVER want to buy into the future!
