Shock pump woes
Hey all,
I have a Manitou Minute 29 80mm fork. I was trying to reduce some of the sag; my pump will put air in the fork, but when I try to unscrew the pump, it lets all the air out . Is my pump shot, or is this a bigger problem with my fork? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks. |
Do you have a way to confirm that the pump is producing pressure? If it doesn't have a gauge built in, perhaps you could test it by trying to pump up a tire (not too much!) or screwing it into a high pressure truck tire gauge (100+ pounds) to see what it's putting out. If the shock isn't holding air at all, the air valve on it needs to be replaced or an internal seal is gone.

The pump has a gauge. I can see that Im putting 150psi into the fork, but I cannot unscrew the pump fast enough to avoid losing all the air I just put in. Any solutions?

If your shock pump is functioning properly, the pressure you hear escaping is from the hose, which is pressurized along with the fork. |
I too get the quick psst from my pump when unthreading. Maybe you should see if a friend has one and try it to see if it is your pump.
