Some advice on used MTB please!
Hello all,
I have asked some questions in the past about used MTB's. I appreciate the help folks have offered so far. I am constrained, for now, to pick up a used MTB and have stumbled across some bikes that look out of the ordinary. I would just like some info on the manufacturers and models. I have been looking at the forum for a while, and I am persuaded to not get a xmart bike, so I am looking to find a decent used better quality bike until I can do better.
What I have found is a Caloi brand Expert model. Any info on brand quality? About $10, but needs a bit of work. Looks to be solid and sound.
Found a Trek 6000 also, in almost new condition. Heard of Trek, and is this a good model? About $40.
Thanks for your advice, and I appreciate your patience with a newbie's questions!!

I have to try hard not to bash you man, but here goes....
Trek is a good brand, Caloi? never heard of them... stick to a name brand at the very least.... I can't buy a decent tire for $10, buy hey, who am I to judge.... Everyone has their own budget.
BTW, I paid over $400 for my DeeMax wheelset alone....

Get the Trek 6000 if it looks like it's in good condition. The bike should be from 1999. For $60 sounds like a good price too!
If you know somebody who knows a bit about bikes, ask them to come with you to make sure it looks like everythings alright with the bike. Also, try it out too.

Caloi must have been more common down here in FL since I'm familiar with them too. They made a decent bike, nothing special, but decent aluminum frame. I think they started making cruisers and branched into mountain bikes.
With that said, you're probably better off with the TREK.
