Performance Access Stealth 4.0
Carbon Frame
Deore group
Stans tubeless setup.
I am a roadie and want to get a new mountain bike. Thought it was a decent deal. Do I need to worry about carbon on an offroad bike or is the tech good enough now to not worry about it.

Carbon is fine - I have owned one - seems to take a bit more care to keep the creaking at bay, but still a good frame material. I'm not a fan of 29" wheels for racing (if that is in your plans). I found that the big wheels feel pretty good most of the time, but when I really wanted to accelerate they didn't want to spin up like 26 inches do. I was on a 29# bike - knocking 5#s off that may have made all the difference....

At this point I don't know how much racing I will do. Right now I am doing none becuase my current mountain bike is a hog and and piece of crap. Once I get a new rig and start riding more that may change. Most of my riding right now is road. I would say 80% but that may change once I get a new bike.

Found this thread via a search. I'm also looking at this bike. Would like more input. Here's why I'm looking. I currently have a 2010 Specialized Crosstrail. I love the bike. It's great for what I mainly use it for, which is rails2trails type riding. The 700cx45 wheels are perfect for that type of riding. Better speeds with 700c. It can do some off road, mountian bike trails, though it's just too heavy at over 32 lbs. And I would like to do more real offroad mtb riding. So I'm considering a 29" and this bike specifically since it's a CF frame. I figure the 29" would still be good speed wise for the r2t rides, and have the lightweight and geometry for mtb rides. I understand that the Access Stealth is a Performance Bike shop brand. Just looking for feedback on this bike. The owners comments on the Performance page are all very positive. But there weren't that many. Just looking for more feedback.
