What the hell is with you people and hating Diamond back because you always they suck or there cheap or fugly, your into those fr!ggen ugly Kona which are an absolute rip off. My LBS told me that anything with Kona slapped onto it is expensive, plus your all into Specialized which are excactly like Kona and they are rip offs. The 2005 Diamond backs are the best for the buck bikes that i have seen

Well that was edifying.

Hmmm. Do you think (it appears not) maybe your LBS told you that................ because, gasp, they sell Diamond Back bikes? Instead of Kona and Specialized?

Now scurry along, learn to use spelling/punctuation/grammar, and don't forget to take your meds in the morning.

First off it costs more to get quality bikes that are reliable and will hold up. Diamondback does not have that quality. Companies like Kona and Specialized put alot of money into their bikes, when you look at the mid to high range parts there are not alot of in house parts. You are going to find some lower parts on the Konas and Specializeds, but their frames are built to last longer, have a higher market resale value and are highly upgradeable. Diamondback skimps on frame quality and strength and has in house parts with one or two good quality parts on it to keep the price down.

Ride what you want, but don't come crying here when the diamondback you bought cracks or snaps while going over a small series of roots.

I beat the heck out of my DB. the only thing left on it is the frame though. broke the forks, destroyed the bottom bracket, bend and rebent the rear wheel many many times, (still have the front wheel somewhere though), I'm still using the front shifter/derailer though. everything else has been replaced. the frame is 7005 series aluminum. it seems to be pretty good so far (couple years).

I put a 4 inch travel fork on the front end, way more then the 80mm one that it came w/.
it was a sub $300.00 bike. and was a great entry level bike. I rode it in a manner it was never intended for, which is why i broke everything. (jumping 15 foot doubles, 180ing stairs, etc.) but the frame is holding up great. the welds look great, I like the frame alot.

it's just a bike. get on and ride it.

dunno. the frame I have, is made of good aluminum. 7005 series. not the best but better then recycled beer cans. the welds look good on it. and like I said, I've beat the crap out of it. so far, so good.

i hate to see all this about bikes being crap, you ride what you can afford. im on a energy intruder 8.2, i bet most of you havent even heard of one, but hey i ride it and it works, plus ive hit stuff way bigger than all my friends riding the big expensive bikes
no one should be judged about the kind of bike they ride, they should be judged on how they ride.

by the way im not saying that this is where this thread was goin, just making a statement

it's a good statement.

it's funny how people judge another rider if they are on a low end bike. but not the other way. I've met so many people with expensive bikes and the 'correct' clothes that can't pedal over a curb. one would think that because they have the right equipment, that they can ride. but that's not always the case.

when we see someone on a lower quality bike, we assume they are just starting out. not allways the case.....
