Well unless its broken or something he knows about that you dont (but if he's a good friend he probably wouldn't fo to you) it sounds pretty good. Just make sure you check it over before buying.

Yeah definately check the weld spots and head tube area. Like hardinge915 said, have a ride and make sure you're comfortable with it. If you dont like how it rides, dont buy it.

Why not take your friend to the bike store have them look at it (with you there) and if it checks out, buy it immediately!

What a deal! Sure is a nice friend

That's because we live in Australia and are stooged with bike prices.

Aldo check all the pivots and feel for play in the rear. Also look at the top and bottom of the shock and check if there is any leaking oil.

dont forget to check fork crowns!

SC forks on a freeride bike... Look for cracks under the crown near the steerer
also see how true the wheels are, a bashed weelset usally means a trashed bike...

If its an 04 Stinky, its got Drop Off Triples (DC fork). But still a good idea to check crowns.

sounds like a deal, but be careful, if this guy is a good friend there should be no problems but you can never be too careful.

If you don't know what you are doing, bring it to a shop and let them inspect if over and ask them if they think it is worth it.

i had a look today, i check every spot, went for a ride, did some heavy weight pedaling, checked all the gears, forks work fine, brakes are all good, ive got him to give it to a bike shop for them to certify all welds and things are ok, and they will give me a signed form of approval, neat huh?
