seat post clamp

Hi Guys

I have a question about the seat post clamp. When closing it tight to lock the seat post should it be somewhat hard to clamp? I assume it should be a bit to ensure the seat post cant move down in the frame when riding the bike.

Thanks

Jeremy

yes it should be tight. if you are on a carbon bike, don't over tighten.

another question. I know that you should put a thin layer of silver anti sieze on your seat post, it doesnt matter what brand of silver anti sieze does it? the stuff at the hardware store would be the same as the stuff at the bike store right?

you don't need that. regular grease works just fine. go to a bike shop or a car garage and ask for a small dab if you don't have any.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

Yes but it's messier than grease.

Yeah it is I have used it before on other things. I just put a small bit and spread it around with a paper towel leaving a thin film on the post.

A think a thin film is fine right?
