color advice
Looking to paint my bike. Don't know what colors to go with. I was thinking maybe military colors. Flat green, some white stencil work. Throw some flat brown on random stuff like the calipers. The other thing was red fork red calipers and black frame. I know you guys are going to say its my bike so do what I want but throw me ideas! I'm open to anything. If you've painted something throw up some pics!

Hot Rod Black (semi-flat) with gloss yellow-tinted-fluorescent-lime flames with airbrush blends to green to cobalt blue tips and white pinstriped outline; then overshot with pearlescent topcoat followed by 4 coats of gloss clear (all just on the flames - -rest of the frame stays semi-flat).
Oh, wait a minute, that's MY next paint job . . . sorry.
Or . . .you could go white frame, sunrise mural and overshoot it all with pearlescent and clearcoats. Gives it that '70s-Chevy-van retro look. I was smitten with murals back in the day and just had to try my hand - -

Lime green/black, or a very vibrant orange/black. Teal/black/white.
White frame with black just about everything else really pops.
I've got an idea for my own bike, but I haven't seen too much of it so I'm going to keep that one to my self.
and if you want extra durability, you should probably consider getting the frame powder coated over paint.

White bicycles are never a good idea, especially a MTB.
Of the ideas in your OP, I really dislike the flat green and brown idea. That could easily go really wrong. Unless you're willing to paint every part, I generally encourage people to work around the colors of their components they have or are going to install. Most bike parts other than suspension forks are black, a few are white and very few are silver. It sounds boring, but I generally pick colors that work with black, white, silver.
I'm going to powdercoat my frame gloss black this winter. It's gunmetal grey right now, and all of my components are black or black/white, except my fork. Which is white with gold stanchions and blue knobs.. go Fox!

Au contraire . . . white bikes are very fast - - and they make a great canvas.

you don't need to paint your bike, just put stickers all over it. that's what i do to all my bikes.
