'97 diamondback price?

not sure if this should go in the vintage price inquiry, as it's not really quite old enough to be vintage yet. But I was just wondering, how much would a reasonable price for a 1997 Diamondback ascent 3.0 be? https://www.bikepedia.com/Quickbike/B...e#.UB3sLU1mR-M

It's stock aside for the seat, which I don't remember what kind of seat it has atm. And it's in pretty good condition. Mechanically sound, just the occasional scratch or other cosmetic blemish.

Bikes: everywhere

For a mass production rig 15 years old I generally hope to get about 1/5 MSRP, so $200. Depends on condition and collectability, but I don't think it's all that collectable.

If it's pretty virginal and you're in a hot MTB market maybe up to $400.

If you're not in a hurry to ditch it, take good pics, write good copy and put it on CL for $600.

Adjust downward as you get antsy

Well I was looking to sell it pretty soon and buy a roadbike with the money I get from it, plus some cash from other things I'm selling. So perhaps $300 would be a very reasonable price?

Eh, I'd be very surprised if you get over 200. 15 years old, with low-mid parts spec - even if it's in good shape, not exactly a coveted brand or model. As LOP said - stick it on CL with some decent ad copy, pics, and ask whatever you like, adjust price downward as time passes/no one bites. At this point, how much you paid for it in 1997 is fairly irrelevant.

Good luck.
