Deal or no deal?

2011 Trek Mamba Gary Fisher with no wear ( ridden 3 times and it shoes) with extra wheels that have road tires, never used except when I test drove. $550
It's 19" and I rode it, the mech disc brakes didn't grab too well but I think it's an adjustment issue. Curious on your thoughts about that and the fork on this bike. It's a Rockshox Torah 29.

My other option is to go get a Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc that I like....and another $200+tax that I don't like.

Thoughts?

Mamba doesn't sound bad. The RS Tora is no longer made, but it is a trail-capable fork.

If you do a lot of descending your hands will tell you that it's time to upgrade the mech discs to hydraulic. Otherwise, they could be fine.

Thanks. I've an old Kona Caldera (with about 10 miles on it) from 2001 that I'm going to do the trail stuff with so the brakes should work out ok for me on the Trek. I'm gonna put the road tires on the Mamba and see what happens from there. I will be using it primarily as a hybrid but wanted the ability to use on trails if I wanted.

I would put a 26x1.5 slick on the Kona and ride the Mamba on the trails.

Ha! I kinda thought that would be the response! I will likely do just that once the money dust settles....just spent $1200 on the wife's bike/stuff last night and now this. I suppose I could sell the Kona and just use the two sets of wheels for different riding but I don't think I can part with it for the money I'd get. And besides, one can't have too many bikes as I hear around this site! N+1+1....or something like that?
