Mountain biking road trip

I'm leaving the NYC area in mid June, where should I ride???? I'm looking for good xc and all mountain rides. I've been told to check out crested butte colorado. I wanted to go to moab, but people are telling me it'll be too hot in the summer. Can you guys help? Where are the best rides in the country? I'm not looking for insane downhill and freerides, but mostly just spectacular views.

Thanks

Moab shouldn't be bad in mid-June (actually, that's technically still spring). The really hot months are late July through early September. Even if June is toasty, you could ride--just take a break during the afternoon's peak heat.

If you don't mind driving, check out bc. You will get all different riding within 10 hours of each other. Fernie, Sun peaks, golden, kelowna, kamloops, north shore (not fromme but cypress) and whistler would offer you "dessert" ridng, big mountain riding, rain forest. Every terrain out there we have as you drive across BC. And you could even hit up some lift riding for ****s and giggles

Thanks, are you sure about moab? I mean, I love the heat and deal with it very well, but my friend doesn't fair as well as me. If we can manage morning and evening rides that'll be fine. We'll prob stop at colorado first and then check out moab.

You could go to Moab and stop in Fruita Colorado for a day or two. It'll be toasty but not that bad. Crusty Butt riding is great and the views are even better, but the best riding in Colorado IMHO is in Durango. You get everything from desert riding to mountain forest trails and lots of it.

Check out this link.

A great loop would be a stop in Fruita first, then Moab, followed by Durango and then finshing up in Crested Butte. Now THAT would be a trip to remember.

Fruita is only about 4.5 hours from Denver, another hour drive to Moab, then about 4 hours drive to Durango and about 3 hours from Durango to Crested Butte.
