The chain and cassette MUST be replaced at the same time.

There is nothing wrong with the crank set.

Basically, half the cost or more is labor......

Bikes: '74 Fuji The Ace, '07 S-Works Epic, 88? Hardrock.... A whole bunch more

I would be a tad bit miffed at having my LX crank replaced with an Acera one, especially if that isnt the issue. Even if the rings are bad it is not like they can't be found. Or at least have the crank be replaced with something almost similar in quality.

They say the cost of replacing it with a deore crank would cost an extra $90 over the acera one.
Also, $55 of the cost is labor

Took it back in for them to do the work.. Having them save the old parts and give them back to me. Apparently, they have to buy and install a new bottom bracket, to go along with the new crank. So, they are replacing the crank, cassette, fixing the brake line, and replacing the bottom bracket. Final estimate is $169... $55 is labor. They said they won't have to replace the chain since it's so new (I've had it for a few weeks only).
