05 Rockhopper vs. 04 Rockhopper Comp
I had my mind set on buying the '05 Rockhopper ($450) when I saw an '04 Rockhopper Comp at my LBS for $600. Would I be better off saving the $150 and going with the Rockhopper or should I spend the extra $150 and get the '04 Rockhopper Comp? What are the main differences between these two models?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you get a chance to ride both?
Specs for 2004 Rockhopper:
https://www.specialized.com/SBCBkMode...1c0ipm3.j27011
Specs for 2005 Rockhopper:
https://www.specialized.com/SBCBkMode...1c0ipm3.j27011
The frame is noticably different between the two and they have swapped some of the components on the bike, like the fork.
I have some pictures at:

of my Rockhopper 2005 Comp that I got this week
ps
I think you botched the pricing in your opening post or I'm just an idiot.

I think the pricing is correct. I believe the MSRP for an '04 Rockhopper Comp is around $800? They knocked $200 off MSRP in hopes of selling the '04 models. The '05 Rockhopper entry level MTB is $450.

i like the 05 frame from the looks .seems stronger too.if you are a somewhat heavier go with that one,the frame reminds me strongly on the HR.but if you are heavier you might just want to check out the HR in the first place.

i actually looked at the 05 frame again, and it seems like they threw together everything that is good on the 04 rockhopper frame with everything that is good on the HR frame.
i thinks thats great .iam actually kinda pissed thet i didn't test ride it before i bought my HR ,because everyone said the HR is more heavy duty for my close to 200 pounds, but iam not so sure about that anymore.
