Looks like a piece to me.

100MM dual crown, bound to be crap.

blue_neon 04-13-05 12:09 AM

ZOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom! WTF?

anthonaut 04-13-05 12:11 AM

Piece of crap. You get what you pay for and it definately applies in this case. IMO, Any DC with more stanction between the crowns that below them is a piece.

Dirtbike 04-13-05 12:14 AM

DUDE! It has a state-of-the-art Spring Pressure System!!!

blue_neon 04-13-05 12:15 AM

And its definatley the FASTEST fork i've seen!!!

harov3 04-13-05 12:23 AM

OK, this one I know. Zoom are fitted to bikes that dont justify the expense of an RST. ;)

Vertigo 04-13-05 12:24 AM

LMAO... I guess I got my answer :D

Ok so then, what can I get that wont bottom out while scootn' down the trails/jumps? I cant really spend too much right now since I just bought the bike. Has a weaksauce RST capa T5 on it right now.
Oh and if it helps... I ride fairly hard and am 5'11 @ 190lbs
Anybody have something cheap used?! lol

edit* cool, another V owner

ARRR,,,....guy, isn't that just the way they pack them for shipping?

Vertigo 04-13-05 12:38 AM

NVM about forks. I found some old posts with some good info.

anthonaut 04-13-05 12:40 AM

Well in a way. You can tell from the picture where the "limit" line is for the travel on the stanctions and its where the lower crown is situated. Also, it has 100 mm of travel which is about where the lower crown is anyway.

Dirtbike 04-13-05 12:41 AM

I think your best bet is an 02 super T. It has V brake mounts, and has 20mm TA. They are cheap too. It might be a little bit flexy with its 30mm stanchions though.

PWRDbyTRD 04-13-05 12:56 AM

get a EXR pro for 190 and throw some stiff springs in it for 40 bucks.

Overkill IMO. His bike probably couldnt take them anyway. Also woukd be heaps hard to track down.

Underkill IMO. He should look at a DirtJumper or a Z of some kind.

How much travel does he need?

If anyone doubts the integrity of the EXR Pro with stiff springs, I can show you a proof it can hold up...I've been riding on one for 7 months now.

Now that i think about it, and now that i realise he doesnt have much money to spend, an EXR would be pretty well perfect.

Vertigo 04-13-05 01:40 AM

Wow, thanx for all the VERY helpful info. Very much appreciated guys!

One mo question. Which is better out of the EXR pro , DJ3, and MZ comp?

Worst to best is MZ comp, EXR pro and DJ3. (In a freeride sense)

Vertigo 04-13-05 01:54 AM

Thanx, that helps a bunch. Now everything is starting to fit.
The EXRs really fit my budget nicely, AND I like that idea of installing stiffer springs.

I'd say buy the fork first and if you think the springs arent stiff enough, THEN you should look at heavier ones. No point getting stiffer springs if you don't need them.

Let's try to help people by keeping in mind that the majority of the posters here, (myself included) do not have the cash to be dropping on $500 forks when we just spent $400 on the bike. =)

Trekbikedude 04-13-05 05:00 PM

They spelled Disc wrong, they spelled it "Disk".

TroyLeeRacer199 04-13-05 06:10 PM

Wow this looks like cruddiest fork i have seen...has anybody heard of zoom before!? Looks like it should be on a Wal-mart bike!
