Shimano XTR electronic shifting on a dh rig?

I was reminiscing back to my days with the Shimano Airlines kit on a dh rig when I suddenly remembered that Shimano now has the XTR electronic shifting group. Do you think that this would work on a dh rig? Would it be practical? Since the components can be had individually, it seems like the required parts for such a rig would be somewhat less than the full group (single "shifter", no fd).

Given that XTR DI2 comes in a 1x11 version, that eliminate the FD from the start, the bigger issue is how are you running you rear, given the popularity for 7 speed cassettes at the rear (i.e. Mini-Block) you need to decide what you are planning to use at the rear & if this is DI2 compatible.

XTR Di2 does exist, I just don't know of anyone using it. I did notice that XTR Di2 uses a cable instead of wireless.

It's capable of operating with 1x, 2x, and 3x drivetrains. DH bikes are typically 1x7, but sometimes 1x10 if the course has a lot pedaling (for DH). I don't think the XTR 11 speed Di2 rear derailleur is tough enough for DH racing, though, in comparison to Saint or Zee.
