Mountain Photo Thread
What do you have to share???
I'll start, Mt Sneffels, Ridgeway, CO in the summer of 1972 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...er/MtSneff.jpg |
|
Cool idea, Shifty. Here's another vantage point of Mt. Sneffels....taken in the fall of '07. I am a landscape photographer, ironically specializing in the mountain scenery of Colorado...so there's PLENTY more where this came from if anyone is interested. :)

ccd rider, that's beautiful, and if you have a link to an online gallery, would you post it please?
|
I have been known to walk around the mountains of CO with a camera. Wish I really were a landscape photographer by trade though.
Here are a few: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1237/...f84909ec3f.jpg Never Summer Mountains from RMNP http://farm1.static.flickr.com/159/3...df0814affa.jpg Parika Lake http://farm1.static.flickr.com/167/3...eb0755c18f.jpg Lost Man Lake http://farm1.static.flickr.com/130/3...4f25f2fecf.jpg The Maroon Bells Can't wait until backpacking season. Going over my photos reminds me to get off my bike and into the backcountry more often. |
ccd rider, post those shots!!! :D
BTW, the afternoon sun on Sneffels is a nice touch. |
Another photo taken in the early 1970's, Wilson Peak taken from Alta Mines near Telluride.

Thanks for all of the kind comments.:thumb: And some very nice shots by several of you! dark13star, I would love to see yours in a bigger size! Very nice! Love the unconventional view of the Bells.....
I think I might just post one photo a day for awhile (until everyone gets bored:deadhorse:).....I'll post a link to the main website where I have some wallpaper sized files (but still only 1024 pixels on the longest side) at a later date. These will be usually around 800 pixels or so. Today's shot is of the Beckwith Mountains near Paonia. This was taken at sunrise....very chilly with absolutely no wind, so the water was really like glass. Enjoy! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMGP2319-3.jpg |
Wow, nice shot!
|
Is linking to someone else's fine photos alright? If not, I apologize, but I do have to pay tribute to my first mountain experience - the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
I'll follow that up with some shots I took while on a ride. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1424/...690bcb.jpg?v=0 The following were on a bike ride up Mt Palomar in Southern California near San Diego in October of 2008. Mt. Palomar, somewhere up there. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../paloride1.jpg Looking back from where I came. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../paloride3.jpg After nearly an hour of climbing in thick clouds, I'm finally above the clouds. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...paloride13.jpg |
|
ccd rider, if you keep posting these, I will get discouraged and put all my photography equipment on ebay.
Seriously though, that is one of the best sand dunes shots I have seen. Love the colors. |
Great Sand Dunes is a magical place, I always hate the winds in San Luis Valley, until I get to the dunes and see what the wind creates. Great shot, well worth waiting for late afternoon for that one.

Tricky to get a shot there without any of the city included, but you did it, nice work. Beautiful morning shot.
|
Thanks, Shifty. The light was very cooperative.....it made up for the lack of clouds.
|
Foggy morning in Rocky Mountain National Park.....

ccd rider, I'm not bored yet, keep them coming!!!
|
Thanks, valygrl. I seem to have hijacked the thread! I hope some others post their photos. I would really like to see some shots from where people have ridden.....even if they are just for posterity purposes.
