Near 70 and plus meet and greet at Parker Rec Center

9:00 am July 16th Rec Center on Lincoln

I and the Parker Rec are hosting a "meet and greet" at the rec center on Lincoln for near 70 and older biyclists.

This is just for fun, get to know one another. We have a door prize from Treads.

There are some signs out and it was in the "Talk of the Town."

Pass the word and join us!! Who knows what might happen?

Any type of bicycle, unicycle, trike or whatever. If you ride 1 mile or 100, please be there!

Well, Tuesday is the BIG day!!

I have been carrying brochures and giving them to folks. But the thing that everyone has seen is the sign I posted on a major portion of the trail. I posted that on bike to work day, and expected it to last about 2 days. Instead, it has lasted 2 weeks, weathering several downpours, wind, etc.

I will be extremely curious to see if anyone besides my wife and myself show up??

I am predicting 5 people will be there.

We had 6 folks at the near 70 and plus meeting today. Four very nice guys, and my wife and me. It was a great discussion, and we are exchanging email addresses and will likely go on a gentle, easy ride together in the near future. Turns out my wife and I are the oldest - one guy 72, one 70, one 69 and one 68, which leaves Nora and me at 73 and 75.

I am the most active, by far. One of the guys (72) had hit some gravel and broke his collar bone. One guy was recovering from a knee replacement in May, just getting back on the bike. One guy just moved here from CA and couldn't believe the goat heads. He rides a Cross bike. The other was a runner who just had a hip replacement. He has won prizes in running, doing marathons like Boston and others, but is now learning about bicycling. He has done triathlons.

I will post a picture as soon as I get it out of my camera.
