Here's the route I was mapping when asking about that bridge. I've actually routed around the crossing using a local Annapolis route I found. Seems like it could be a good winter ride-plenty of places to stop.

I haven't ridden it in years, but one of my favorite regular routes used to be a 60-ish mile ride winding from northern Pasadena around that Benfield/St. Stephens Church/Defense Highway/Generals Highway area.

Man down.
Oh my, that wheel rebuild for my Kogswell and (most importantly) my studded tires, just could not get here soon enough. I've been riding the new bike this week. I was turning into Druid Hill and encountered a curb-to-curb wash of ice. I was on it before I knew it was even there. And a moment later the bike shot out from under me. I bonked my helmet on the curb and smacked my right elbow pretty hard. I probably slid 10 feet. Nothing broken thank goodness.

You can see why the UCI could get so paranoid about someone using a well hidden "assist" embedded into the BB area, but it looks like the hub drive is a better way, but sticks out like a sore thumb.

I think the e-bike is a good idea-if it gets more people out of their cars and onto bikes then great, especially in hilly Baltimore.
Melissa sent me this link about bicycle and pedestrian planning in Balto County. They are looking for people to testify in front of committee. Seems like you commuters would be able to open their eyes.

Anyway the latest from the bike to work day underground (in case of any interest):
Peps that live in Baltimore County, you've got two Council members that have taken an interest in doing more for cycling, now is the time to get involved! Keep in mind you got a DPW that has an excuse for every occasion on why they are not doing more for bikes, they really need to be called out on giving bikes such a low consideration.
I really should write something up with the problems of middle management in government (like DPW), they really don't have to be responsive to public outcry, they just have to have an explanation that satisfies the elected officials. Excuses like: more important things to do and not enough money usually works, what most fail to understand is that at least minimal progress can be made for accommodating cyclists from the pocket change left in the DPW budget that cannot build something huge and expensive.

· There will be a Bike Month website where participants can sign up for the contest. There will be an event calendar and links to event pages.

DPW: best read I have on them is that they will do what they are told. Since we now have a few councilmembers liking the biking ideas then we have an in road to DPW. Kamenetz is also on the bikers side and he's capable of throwing some weight around. Things are finally happening!

OK, I don't mean to be a wise ass, but with more than 7,000 contributions to this thread so far, it has become a mainstay here on Bike Forums. And, as a mainstay, it has a certain...responsibility.
When reader after reader looks at the title of the thread day after day and sees "Where are the MD people's," there's a very good chance that the incorrect use of the apostrophe in that sentence will eventually become accepted as correct. Although I understand that the question is written in "slang" to begin with, the apostrophe is wrong, either way. There should be NO apostrophe in "people's," as it's just the plural of "people." An apostrophe either 1. shows possession ("the people's candidate," "the people's choice") or 2. takes the place of another letter, usually the "i" in "is" ("Shush! The people's asleep!").
In the case of this thread title, "peoples" should be spelled WITHOUT the apostrophe. I know it sounds petty, but many young, impressionable peoples read this forum, which is where the "responsibility" part comes in. Would you guys mind humoring me and fixing the title so that readers do not assume it is correct as written?

A bad age to be a grammar snob, I mean WTF? and OMG! I imagine the English language will a much different thing in 25 to 50 years. Back to bikes.
Brief ride report- I had planned to drive down to southern MD to do a DCRand ride but at the last minute did not feel like driving,and with the sit down lunch it would be a long day, 3 hrs driving. So I rode that Annapolis ride that I posted the other day. Left my house at 7am-rode through the city, Hollins Ferry Rd (bomb craters) to Hammonds to BW to B&A. My cue called to get off the B&A at East West Blvd but I overshot by a few miles, which was good because I was able to stop at that coffee shop off the trail in Severna Park.Mexican hot chocolate and oatmeal cookies.
Keeping dry and warm was an issue,managed fingers and toes just fine but my base stayed wet all day. I can't imagine lowering my intensity to a lower level,avg 14.8 for 8hrs.
So I got off the b&a at Evergreen right there after coffee shop. Rest of ride was just wiggling down through that area west of Annapolis, deviated from route here and there. Was going to stop in Annapolis but my mileage was already high and I was cold so kept on moving, even considered taking light rail from Cromwell to home while still getting my 100 miles. I knew I would probably wait forever in the cold for that train so kept on moving. Last few miles to home were slow. Didn't really eat much, gotta be sure to do that next time. Also not sure about solo winter centuries, it was a bit of a blur. 112.5 total.

Wow todays commute was a wonderful adventure. Never lost control during the ride. Cars gave me some space for a pleasant change though weren't many cagers out there.
PS: The apostrophe (todays commute) was left off due to their over abundance in our forum. Poor Gear Jammer, he'll go down in infamy as the poster with the missing apostrophe in the most visited forum topic on BF. Probably why he left the site years ago, sniff, sniff..... I miss him.
