I'll be there - getting ready now!

BrooklynRider 04-04-08 07:45 PM

Last Friday some Times-Up folks were at the critical mass Manhattan. Were any of you there?

jyossarian 04-04-08 10:58 PM

The rain stayed away and our sweep joined us late (shame on you Air!)

Air 04-04-08 11:53 PM

I tried! Give me credit for leaving a Yankees game early to get down there - would have been early but I just missed the 4 and had to wait 25 mins for the next one. Great night, nice temps, fun group.

jyossarian 04-05-08 09:26 AM

A true fan would have stayed at the game and left us to get lost in the park. Anyways, it's beautiful out, perfect for riding to Coney. I'll give you a buzz after I wake up fully. Anyone else reading this, you're welcome to join.

Air 04-05-08 09:47 AM

*yawn* See ya at 12:30!

True - but I went to see Kennedy pitch so missioned accomplished. Unfortunately not a great outing but it happens.

Air 04-05-08 04:59 PM

Great ride - perfect weather, great company, amazing hot dogs...less wind coming back would have been nice though :D

jyossarian 04-05-08 05:46 PM

Agreed, excellent ride. Except for the part where I took a spill on 3rd cuz the road's all ripped up from 34th to 57th. Wheels need to be re-trued and I got some scrapes on my hands, but I was able to ride home.

I was thinking I should re-tape the bars. Then I decided the blood and grease look gnarly.

Air 04-05-08 06:19 PM

Oh crap :( :( Sorry man - glad it wasn't anything worse :(

What were you saying about getting a pair of gloves? ;)

jyossarian 04-05-08 06:51 PM

I was saying I keep forgetting to buy a new pair. Or wear the ones I have.

Air 04-06-08 09:33 AM

Mmm - hopefully just the first of many trips!

jyossarian 04-11-08 06:57 PM

Darn, missed another good ride! The new work assignment, and working out at the gym before AND after work now puts a damper one the weeknight rides. And since I bought another boat, I have been taking the weekend overtime to pay for the gas (this boat holds 150 gallons @ $4.00 a gal. and has two Chevy 307 cubic inch engines) which kills any weekend riding.

On the upside, I do the stationary bike twice a day at 95 cadence for thirty to forty minutes each time. And last week I jogged for 15 minutes non-stop (my personal best) on the treadmill.

And I finally weighed in at under 270 pounds (it was actually 269.5) for a total weight loss of 91.5 pounds (31.5 since new years day) so I am pretty happy with developments.

I just wish I could ride with you guys more:(

That's why you need a suspension. :)

A nice ride last night; the weather was perfect for a pre-summer evening. Henri and I met up in Bklyn and had the best chicken wrap ever, while I changed a cleat.

We made it to Columbus Circle early, so I used to time to register for Glen's Montalk ride. I think the group was going a bit slower than usual, so Henri and I stopped to help two nice young ladies change a flat. Henri, of course diagnosed the problem, fixed miss chicagolandgurl's rim strip and shoved a little road tube in and then proceeded to fix the rest of her bike!

It was a good thing as we got a chance to hammer back up to the group. What's strange is I saw more accidents than usual, as people seemed to bunch up more, wanting to walk up hills. I can't trackstand, so this was a challenge.

Air (Mr. Marshal) was doing his thing pointing the way and it was very cool seeing Julia.

Mr. Dahon guy said he could ride as fast as us and even do a century on his superior folder :roflmao2:

We met a cool Critical Mass dude named Cesar on a fixie with double sprockets that plowed the way through some pedestrian traffic.

I noticed quite a few new faces on this ride, people riding everything from BMX's (Henri that pretty girl was from SoCal and had the sweetest looking tattoos)

a fun time out...wish more BFers were there

Air 06-07-08 06:10 PM

That was a great ride! Few other of my friends came by - they were late but I was able to get them and catch up at the beginning. Very relaxing, slept like a baby.
