Can I join you? I'm a novice 42yr old who wants to get some rides in before I jump in on some races. I work in the city but live in Queens...............

Air 10-01-07 05:50 AM

Absolutely! Read this thread for upudates, meet at the northwest corner of 36th off 2nd Ave around 7:30 on Tuesday and look for some other bikers :)

chancho9965 10-01-07 06:06 AM

Damn! Tuesdays are my late night at work (get off at 8pm), but I am at 35th & 8th so I am getting closer

henria86 10-01-07 07:07 AM

JOIN us... we are all Fred's an cyclist...

Tehuelche 10-01-07 09:38 AM

Hey guys I've been checking this thread and I would love to join you one of this days. I'm a newbie from Brooklyn. Pardon my total ignorance in the subject but...do I need a headlight?

Air 10-01-07 10:16 AM

A headlight will help - some areas can be dark and it's just safe practice to have one in NYC at night. That said if you're not afraid of running into a pothole or into the water than probably not.

How about next week we'll go Thursday so we can get Chancho in there - I'm not sure how much later people would want to go this Tuesday.

mattyknacks 10-01-07 03:42 PM

I'm in for Tuesday also. I can usually make any night during the week, although my boss at work does not like me the next morning. :)

brainsan 10-01-07 04:32 PM

cool.. I might join you guys. What's the pace? If it is not too fast, I might get the gf out as well.

Air 10-01-07 05:29 PM

We go about 15 or so on flats give or take - it's not a hammerfest. The idea is to have fun, get some good food and drinks, ride a bit more.

Great company, great food, great jokes and a ton of fun. What a night out! Thanks guys!

Air: I have a professional true stand with all the bells and whistles. Lemme know if you want to borrow it and take a stab on truing the wheels yourself. Alternatively, I can have them trued for you. It's a pretty simple process.

Air 10-03-07 08:22 AM

Thanks man! I can true it up with the brake pads but it looks like the wheel is toast, if three 'pros' can't true it and have it stay tensioned for more than 10 miles at a pop...

Wonder if that's a record, 120 miles on a brand new hand built wheel...

chancho9965 10-03-07 07:37 PM

Damn! I wish I were there.........................
