I will not, as the local LAF folks apparently think nothing of scheduling the ride in conflict with club events of long-standing. This year's snub is of the Lake Nockamixon Century, hosted by Suburban Cyclists Unlimited on August 26. LAF's explanantions about these conflicts have been less than satisfactory and, to some folks in the club, less than credible.Originally Posted by tankman10024
Are any of you doing the Livestrong chellenge in Philly this Aug 25-26?
And in the Philadelphia area, there is also the American Cancer Society's annual fundraising ride on July 15: https://www.acsevents.org/faf/home/de...?ievent=156300.

I'm there...I'm doing all three Livestrong Challenges this year, and I'm like 85% sure I'm a coach for the Philly Challenge.Originally Posted by tankman10024

my goal is $20,000, so we'll see how I do...i'm pretty excited, my mom has officially beaten brain cancer and my family couldn't be happier. This is my way of paying her back, last year I just raised $800 and called it a day, this year my whole community is helping me out

Do you know anything else about this ride? The website has nothing but the date. Mainly looking for start location and distance.Originally Posted by lrzipris

But if you were asking about the ACS ride, I can tell you that it is a very popular (almost 5,000 last year) and huge event; both of my clubs have teams to raise money and ride together: some of the Central Bucks Bike Club riders wear antlers (buck=antlers, get it?).Originally Posted by tankman10024

I believe the ride begins near the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia and goes to Mays Landing, NJ (62.5 or 100 mi), or you can avoid the mass start and begin over the river in Cherry Hill (43 mi) or Hammonton (28 mi).
He drop me
I may do the Philly ride...for sure I will be again doing the Austin ride (3rd year for me).

I'll be doing it. I signed up last year for the century ride, then 2 weeks prior crashed a quad powdering my wrist and landing me int he hospital for 3 days. I walked the 5K in a full arm cast and sling instead... one miserable SOB
... This time though, there will be no Quad riding and only bike riding
I was very pleased they decided on philly again. Hopefully they won't have it up in montgomery county community college... that was terrible. The walk was from one parking lot to another to another, then back again. That's not "philly". They should do it in Fairmount Park at the very least... they'll get a little more exposure being closer to the actual city.
