I work there, but live in Westchester. I haven't ridden up in Dutchess yet, but I did get a free set of maps marking NY's bike-friendly roads up there from the state DOT. Google should find them the request website, if you're interested.

Thanks. I will check it out. I have plenty of time before I actually hop on the bike. The snow looks like it will stick around for a while. Gotta move to a warmer climate.

I'm in the north portion of Dutchess on weekends (Red Hook/Rhinebeck area). Lots of good riding around there. You can ride over one of the bridges (Poughkeepsie, Kingston) for even more hills.

I would prefer not to ride on hills right away. I usually ride in Red Hook around the Greig Farm area and towards Tivoli near Bard College. I don't think I'm in shape yet for hills and mountains!
I will check the links to the bike routes. Thanks.

Neighbors, indeed.
We actually try to ride in Beekman fairly often - LaGrange is lousy with traffic and we have to shoot towards Pleasant Valley or Beekman to get some relief. Riding north/west of 55 out your in the fall is spectacular.
