fall rides in Massachusetts
This is my busy season and I'll be working 6 days a week with Sundays off. I had so much fun on my bike tis summer so I'm not ready to put it in the basement. So I'm looking for some falls rides where I can clock 50-60 miles RT. I got some tights for under my shorts so I'm ready for chilly weather. The Cape Cod Rail Trail was great and I'd love to find more trails like that, but I'm willing to ride on the road if there's a really special road somewhere without many requirements for a map. I love the straight line of a rail trail, and riding with other people but don't like the crowds and little tikes. I'm willing to drive an hour maybe 1.5 hours and I live in Maynard. Maybe the CCRT will be the ticker when the summer crowds subside ...?

Do you know about the Nashua River Rail Trail? It runs from Ayer to north to the NH border. It's probably about 15 miles from where you live to Ayer, and then about 12-13miles for the length of the trail, so that's in your window. I don't think it would be too crowded on fall weekends.
As far as "riding with other people", you can take a look at the Seacoast Century put on by the Granite State Wheelmen. It's Sept 20 & 21, there will be lots of riders, and you don't need to go the whole 100 miles (there are convenient ways to shorten the ride). I think registration ends soon though.
