Where are the patches?

Where are the patches?
Just got back into cycling after many years. It has improved my health and I feel 20 years younger.
I have a large selection of patches from all the centurys I rode in the 80s. I've been on quite a few in the past two years and found out nobody gives patches anymore. I was hoping to expand my collection. When and why did this practice stop?

The most recent patch I have is for the Beast of the East ride in 1993, after that most events started giving out t-shirts. One reason I miss the patches is that they were very easy to store or display, now I have two drawers filled with t-shirts from the various rides over the years. Eventually I'll send them to one of these people who can cut up the shirts and make a nice quilt with them, then I'll just have to figure out where to hang the quilt

The Woodstock Century gave them out last year. Out of the dozen local centuries I've done, that was the only one.
