Hey NJ! Anyone ever traede in a bike at Beacon Bikes?
I just noticed on their website that they will accept trades for bikes over $1300. I also noticed that they have a couple of Madones from 08 listed on their close-outs. Has anyone ever tried this here or anywhere else for that matter. I know that craigs list or ebay might be the better way to unload a very rarely used Specialized Tricross but I'd rather the quick exchange for a brandie-new Madone. What could I expect? A price depreciated by half? a quarter for what I paid? hmmmmmm...

Dude..sorry about losing the Vineland store. That really does make service plans seem kind of silly. May I ask did they at least give you a fair deal on a trade? I don't mind losing a bit of cash on present bike if I can avoid having to deal with selling it myself. I like the idea of walking in with one and out with another in one quick step.

i have not traded bikes...w/beacon.
of the 3 beacon bikes we own, one mtn bike is my wifes, the other is mine. my recumbent from them
(2002 bikeE ct) has broke sweat-seat stays and needs welding. because it is from a company that has closed, they (beacon) do not support life-time warranty. i can see where they stand and have been looking for tig welder...on my own.
do you get "Bicycling" ragazine? the current issue lists 2 Trek Madones for 2009. one is going for about $3,400.00 and the "5.5" model is listed at that, $5,500.00. both are too rich for me! my road bike is a 1994 cannondale sx i got used for $35! i saw one bike in that magazine for $13000.00...must have wings!
to the side + fyi: a friend has a 2005 Trek Madone, size 58, he has been trying to sell for at least 1 year. he is asking $1800.00 and is based here in Cumberland county, nj. bike has been well kept!
talk with beacon about trading up!
good luck,
t
