I'll be back riding on the Cape in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone has a decent route mapped out from North Eastham down to the Sagamore Bridge & back. I want to avoid 6 & 6A if possible. Thanks!

Bike Route 1 goes by my street. It is not the best route. It meanders in a few places. I think that all of the rides such as the Best Buddies, MS-150, P2P, go a different route through Plymouth. I have seen those rides. Avoid Route 3A to the east. It has some narrow lanes, hills, and curves combined with fast drivers.

Some people prefer to roll through Quincy. None of the routes from Boston past the 128 are highly satisfactory. Each one has challenges. I have seen some people come down my street and take a crazy shortcut with two tough turns as the Route 1 meanders through Brockton way to the east.

I suppose(i have ridden these roads separately) that you could go through Quincy into Braintree, get onto Grove Street in Braintree, which becomes Columbian St. You would go onto Randolph St and take a right onto Pond St. You would follow this on to the start of Route 58. I do not think that this is the greatest set of roads for biking. It is better than some of the roads in the vicinity.

You could develop a route to trail through some of the slower side streets in halifax and hanson which parallel Rt 58. The route 58 crossing of Route 44 is much better than some of the others since Route 44 is still a highway with a fly-over at the point of intersection. The Route 1 actually comes onto Route 58 for awhile, too.

I suppose that you would take the turn off Route 58 and follow Route 1 signs for a bit. I think that you go through the The park on an east/west heading. You would have to figure out the road combination from there to the bridge. You would cross over Route 3 and go to the east side of the Highway.

You get on the bridge by the Friendlies which is the eastern side. There is a parallel access road that connects with an east/west road coming from Long Pond Road.

If you just want to rack up miles you can just spend the day on the CCRT. Just keep going up and down the 22+ miles to get your 100 in. A cheap bike computer will help you tally the miles 'till your done.

It doesn't go to Sagamore but I bet you could find some route that does and fashion your own.
FWIW, we go to Falmouth every year and ride to Bourne Bridge, nice roads over that way and not a lot of traffic.

Rumrunn, I ride the Rail Trail early in the morning. It is a great path. But by 10-11 it's as crowded as any big city MUP. I doubt I could do 4 laps on it and retain my sanity. :-)

I typically do at least a couple of rides up to Provincetown and back, which is a nice, low traffic route for the most part. But I also like to do at least 1 ride south as well.

Have a look at nbwclub.com. They have mapped some Cape rides and you can link the maps for more than a century.

Have you tried https://www.bikeroutetoaster.com ? Just for the heck of it, I began mapping out a route from the Salt Pond Visitor Center parking lot, and I meandered down until I came to a dead end and a bunch of trees. I'd have to utilize 6A for a part of the journey, then get on 134, 28, 130, then 6A again in order to get to the canal.

for me bicycling on the cape was about the quiet side of things and hearing the sound of my tires roll along sand covered back roads. yes, I had somewhere to go, but the miles were less important than the destination as well as the journey. this thread 100 miles on the cape just brings to mind a day on my bike, less concerned with actual miles traveled but more concerned with little stops at ponds and ocean beaches, places to eat, a friend's house, etc. And a bonus would be spending the night somewhere cozy, or quaint, and not too old and gross. I'd settle for a motel room, but that's not what the cape is about. I'd much prefer a cottage with a fireplace and a cold evening after a warm day.

today is so far from that. I have to drop my car off for repair in the city and then ride my bike home 17 miles in the rain, so that I can do my regular commute tomorrow without worrying about dropping the car and doing a new commute to Natick.

I really wanted to like that biketoaster because it was free to print cue sheets but the damned thing keeps wanting to make it's own routes

Lucky, let me know if you need the route we take from Falmouth to Bourne bridge, I am sure I can scare up the cue sheet.
