cyclist from Howard County, Maryland IMPORTANT, please read!!!

Below is an announcement from HC Transportation for public meetings to comment on a Pedestrian and Bicyclists activity/accessibility study/survey that is being done by the County for selected locations on Rt 1, Snowden River and Rt 40. This is a precursor to one of the primary goals of BAHC – development of a Howard County Bicycle and Pedestrian Accessibility Master Plan. If some of you live, ride through or commute to these areas it is important to have your voices heard.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS
Pedestrian and Bicyclist Select Locations Study

Two meetings will be held to present initial findings and receive review and comment from the public about pedestrian and bicyclist activity at select locations as indicated below.
Meeting One:canceled due to insufficient public notice, will reschedule

Meeting Two: Tuesday-August 17,2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the Miller Branch of the Howard County Public Library
Locations to be presented:
a. US 40 at the following locations: Normandy Center/Normandy Woods Drive, North Ridge Rd., St.Johns Lane, North Chatham Rd., Centennial/Bethany Lane

Opportunity for Public Review and Comment
Toole Design Group (www.TooleDesign.com <https://www.TooleDesign.com> ), a locally-owned and based National consulting firm, as part of a Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC) Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) grant-funded study of pedestrian and bicycling activity at selected locations, will be presenting activity counts and initial findings. Additionally, Toole will be accepting comments from interested community members and other stakeholders.
In addition to data collection, the study’s purpose is to develop preliminary solutions for some of the potentially most hazardous locations.
