Philadelphia Bicycle Expo 10/30-31/10 ?

Anyone going to the Philadephia Bicycle Expo Saturday or Sunday (10/30-31/10) from southern NJ? I am looking potentially for ride/share expences.

It was a great show! The vibe was really warm & excited. Loads of people on Saturday right up til closing, and a smaller but still respectable crowd on Sunday. The highlights were the beautiful bikes from the cream of our region's frame builders: Johnny Coast, Horse, JP Weigle, Folk, Bilenky, Engin, Chris Bishop, etc. Lots of smiles and animated conversations all around. Free designer coffee (until they ran out!), some bizarre alcoholic root beer concoctions & a surprisingly good dried fruit trail mix kept us fueled up. Witty clothing from Hell Yes! & others, frame building jigs & equipment on display to stimulate our frame-building fantasies, and wonderfully clever Brompton foldies were there as well. I caught a couple of seminars: the one that stood out was Peter Weigle's discussion of restoration for fun & function rather than strict historical accuracy. He showed some of his work, including a bike the he painted to look used & a little dirty, with pinstriping lovingly applied to look faded & worn! Steve Maasland talked about Cinelli & brought three unique & wonderful examples.

The fashion show was a hoot, with real bike riders doing the modeling & Simon from Bilenky's announcing, describing the ensembles & goofing on everything.

There were flat-fixing races on Sunday, along with a bike flea market with at least one vintage saxophone.

Logistics were smooth. Secure bike parking & enough admissions people made getting in easy. The staff were helpful & laid-back and the Bilenky people in particular were charming and very well organized. Probably the best thing was the range of bikies: messenger types, roadies, BMXers & us vintage guys all enjoying one another's company and immersion in the stuff of these wonderful machines.
