It is now illegal to wear your Beats headphones rocking Adele 19, 21 or 25 while riding your bike. The fine? Could be $160. One headphone or earbud is fine, which means I will continue to Audible World War Z on my dongle.

Happy New Year! That is all.

I am all for it. (Sb 491)

I think the left ear is a cycling survival tool.
You use it to hear cars coming up from behind.
The left ear is also pretty useful for hearing a fellow rider call out, "Car Back!".

My most frequent ride buddy uses one of these 1-Bud earbuds in his right ear.
Both stereo channels in one ear bud.

He wears it in his right ear, so cars approaching on his left are easily heard by his music free ear.
He also hears "Car Back!" warnings from riders well behind him. (Usually me trying to close down the gap, he is fast )

As I pointed out on MTBR, ear plugs are still legal. Go figure

Listening to music is great (well, listening to some music is great ). Riding a bike is great. But doing both at the same time has always struck me as a really bad idea. It just isn't safe.

And the fact that (a) you like doing both at the same time and (b) you haven't had a bad result from doing so yet doesn't make it safe. It just means that the law of averages hasn't caught up with you yet.

Well I guess it hasn't in the last 100k miles. That or your assumption is not correct.
