We were only a little scared. Really, it isn't too bad on the weekends. Early in the day during summer is even better.

Had a nice four days of riding. Rain bike shifted like crap. Will see if new chain will do the trick.
One thing I noticed is that since I switched to my rain bike with fenders I get more people jumping on my wheel, announced of course.

Exactly. I would never ride that rode on a weekday becuase of the commuter madness but it is a whole other story on a weekend morning.

Cal Ped Turkey Ride on Tday - First time I had done that ride, and loved it. Kinda of a blah route but seeing 200+ cyclists going up the blvd was pretty cool. Got many PR's that day as well. On Friday I hit the dirt and enjoyed my most recent build, a 2002 Trek 8500 through the always enjoyable Pine Canyon below Mt. Diablo. Saturday was a out and back on Mines Rd with the club, what a great day to ride. Although I think a little tectonic shift was happening as the initial climb seemed steeper than usual.

Almost 20 miles, just snuck it in before some workmen came to do a little work on the house.
We just moved in and I needed to find a "Go To" loop in my new neighborhood. 'Ya gotta have a few of those when you have between showers and before and appointment time constraints.
I found a good one in Clayton and really had a great spin. https://app.strava.com/runs/30442879#

Rode with WW today on an Impromptu ride up Mt. Eden, then over to Hicks. Great ride, tough climbs. Large group for an Impromptu Ride ... ~ 25 people. Nice showing.

We joined Joel, et al, for his Heavy Metal ride on the tandem. About halfway through, while standing and climbing a hill, we heard a kind of "kapow!" sound and the chain fell off the middle ring onto the smaller ring and off (in less time than it took to read that). Turns out we lost 4 of our 5 bolts. We limped a couple miles to the Trailhead Coffee and Bike Shop, where the proprietor fixed us up so we could enjoy a fast, smooth descent down Folsom-Auburn Rd.
Fun ride with good people. I hope we can do it again soon.

What time were you at the Trail Head cafe ? I saw a tandem coming down, westbound Taylor road about 10:45 or so, just a guess. Anyways, that's my neck of the circus. The proprietor is Jerry { ? I really suck at remembering names) he is very helpful. He showed me how not to pinch a tube during replacement. Checked out my wheel NC. Maybe I have met you there and not known it. I was chatting it up with a tandem crew back in October at the cafe on the deck. Remember how nice and warm and sunny October is in the Sierra foothills ? I offered that my spouse and I would never get along on a tandem, prolly a divorce. Mr. chuckled and said yeah, I have some claw marks on my Ar$$$. Anyhow, Mr. Lardo, that's me, finally made it out and climbed Indian Hill road. For a oldster newbie it might as well be Mt Suribachi. If you see a puffy blob yellow Jersey puffing up the Taylor road hill from Loomis puffing, wheezing, spitting and snorting away like death is near, that's yours truly trying to work into shape .>.>>>..
There was NO ONE There last weekend heh heh heh.

That was probably us -- blue/pewter fade, red black & white kits. We don't get up there often enough but enjoy the rides & views when we do.
That downhill on Auburn-Folsom Rd. back toward Folsom Bikes is a blast.

Jerry is a great guy, and the coffee there is yummy. Incidentally, Jerry used to ride for Team 7-11 as a pro.

Rode 11 miles round trip ride today with my 12 year old son.
He really wants to bike commute to school again now that we have moved and I think I found him a good safe route.
Yesterday spent the whole day pruning trees in the yard, raking leaves, and putting up Christmas lights.
Less Cycling + More Family Time = 'Tis the Off Season to Be Jolly.

Rode Diablo today from Danville. Wind was ridiculous at times...saw gusts up to 54 mph at the summit weather station.

206 miles and 19,500 feet of climbing.
I am dumb enough to have done that twice.
The first one in '11 was like an out of body experience.
So I had to do it again this year just to prove to myself the first one was no fluke.
