Friday, nice ride from Petaluma to Nicasio and back close to Point Reyes. I was going to stop at PR but it was a little chilly and decided to keep the tempo and not stop.
45 miles
Sunday ride, back road of Wilson Hill again, but this time the via Stony Point (very bad headwind), Pepper, Red Hill and Antonio back section; rolling hills with a low grade long hill.
48 miles

Yesterday I went on my first weekend ride since August 15 (Auburn Century)! In the mean time I had taken my bike to the LBS for a tuneup and to get my left crank arm replaced under warranty. It took over a month and a half for the parts to arrive but I ended up with a completely new crank set and chain rings without spending a penny
Anyway I went on a real short ride last night because I was too busy during the daytime and also I wanted to test out my new bar end lights. It was a short 17.5 mile loop from my house in Redwood City - Jefferson to Canada, northbound and then over the bike bridge near Hwy 92, right on Ralston to El Camino Real, and then back on Jefferson. It was a nice calm ride, no wind, no moon, hardly any cars. It was interesting how significantly colder it was on Canada Road compared to El Camino. Next time I would bring my full fingered gloves

No riding.
2 days of hiking in Big Sur instead. Perfect weather too!
Man, hiking is brutal. I am still sore now.

I'm on call this weekend, so can't ride during the day. Just went out for a short 15 mile night ride spin ... and I made it home safely!!! Ever since turning the Mt. Tam ride into a looooong century, and returning in the dark, I like night riding ... just call me the night owl!

Don't mince words
It was 75* and sunny when we went out at 2. We rode a reverse Dunlop Time Trial route, then along Putah Creek to Pleasant's Valley, then into Vacaville. Stopped Putah Creek & PV for the obligatory photo shoot, since we were both wearing our new 50+ jerseys. A guy stopped and offered to help. I explained what he was doing. He asked, "Is that 50+ miles?" I replied with a laugh, "No, that's our age group!" He got a kick out of that -- as did we.
Total distance: 38 miles. Very little elevation gain, gorgeous scenery, quiet rodes -- a very satisfying ride.

Solo San Bruno
Rode down to San Bruno Mt. Solo in the fog with patchs of sun. 43 miles roundtrip, felt awsome, no bonk at fast pace. The beach from the Cliff house to Daly city were pristine! Those wonderful volunteers did a great job,,, feeling a little guilty wish I had more time last week to help.
Hope we get lots of BF'rs for Morgan Territories ride. HAVE A NICE TURKEY DAY EVERYONE....

Rode Monitor pass out of Markleeville on Sunday Afternoon. Surprisingly nice weather.... 66 degrees "downtown", 53 degrees at the top. Could've been the last time this year though.... the weather up here set to change.... 1 hour and 27 minutes to the top, 1:57 round trip.... a bit windy, and due to a flappin' jacket I couldn't crack 50 MPH though....

Did an excellent out and back on Mines Rd to the Junction Cafe. There were six of us. The attacks were frequent and the laughter was infectious. We had pace line the entire way back. Just simply too much fun.
The kind of day that makes you glad you live in some part of Nor Cal.
I too hope to see some of you on the BFMorgan Territory ride.

SM to Woodside via Crystal Springs and Canada, up Kings Mountain, down 35 to 84, 84 to Pescadero, up West Alpine, 35 to 84 to Woodside and home.
71 miles, and a good deal more climbing than I'd anticipated. I didn't realize there's almost 2000 feet of climbing on West Alpine. It actually climbs HIGHER than the top of Page Mill, then descends a hundred feet or so! WHEW! Was I glad to get home!

Sassy and I started at about 7:15 am in Walnut Creek, Heather Farm area, on our tandem. 50 deg and slightly foggy. We road to the South side entrance to Mount Diablo - about 48 minutes at warm up pace. Started climbing and got above the fog immediately. Beautiful sunny sky and warm. We climbed to the top of the Mountain, enjoyed the views, took some pics (on other computer) Great day. 40 miles, 3800 feet

Saturday: Low-key hillclimb, Sierra Road. God I suck at climbing, but it was fun anyway.
Sunday: Fun CX ride up Montebello Road, down the Canyon Trail/Stevens Canyon Road, up through Garrod Farms and a loop through Fremont Older park.

After playing too much (according to the wife) Carcassone and Band of Bugs with the kids, I went up Montebello at 10 am on Saturday. The weather was perfect although the climb by the patriot mailbox always hurts.
'nother, I have to hand it to you coming down the Canyon Trail on a CX bike. Once was enough for me. I was just rattled around too much compared to riding it on my hardtail.

Bah, it wasn't so bad. I did get a flat on the upper section but it was really not bad compared to some of the CX race courses I've been on (though...a lot longer obviously). There is a little half-pipe bit at the bottom and a couple of creek crossings which were fun (COLD water!). It's the first time I've been on that trail...would definitely hit it again. The upper part (top of Montebello/Black) is pretty fun, too.

I did the Alpine Lake/Mt. Tam loop from Mill Valley Sunday morning (10am-12pm). It was hard as I'm more of a speed demon than a climber. But I enjoyed riding through the fog layers.
The thing that shocked me was that I was all alone the whole ride. I'm a bit of a loner when it comes to riding but would like to meet some of you guys eventually. But my timing always seems way off.
I can see the Richardson Bay trail from my house and some mornings are packed with cyclists while other days the trail seems reserved for runners. What's the deal and how do I get the memos? Also, why do all the group rides leave so early in the morning? I've had some amazing mid-day rides when the fog clears and the roads/trails are empty.

No riding for me again this weekend.
I had a nice ride around the peninsula mid-week but then suffered a relapse from this nasty virus.

52 miles, 5,1000 feet of climbing - Grizzly Peak down to Oakland Zoo, over Lake Chabot and back on redwood Road. And every single time I put my sunglasses back on, it got foggy and wet again!
