I like your pic better than mine. I think I was there around the same time.

Thanks. It was my 3rd Grizzly Peak in a row but this year had the best weather and the clearest views of the Bay. Last year was foggy and frisky. I invited a So. Cal. friend to the ride, the scenery was definetely worth the drive.

I thought I was headed out on a relatively easy 18 miler... however, some of those darned roads were at 17%

depends on if you'd rather ride on the road or mtn bike there are a whole series of these back roads on the s/w side of Sonora and you can create routes as short or as long as you want ... although after the Giro ride, I'm not sure I want too long of a ride

Skegg's point(el corte de madera open space preserve) towards the bottom, after you completely descend if you take Giant Salamander trail it goes through redwoods to a creek. Woodside, Ca (very popular road riding area, of course out on the roads, I like to go into the forest )

Oh and I do wear my helmet now, note last picture. It fits because I got a haircut.

Here's the spot on Welch Creek Rd. about halfway to the summit where some of us (me included!) decided "that was fun, let's turn around now".

Some soldiered on, though.

We did a ride that started in Milpitas, that went straight up Sierra, then over to Calaveras, and on to Welch Creek. I happen to skip that road, and went on to lunch. Laura, later came up to me, and said I was the smartest rider of the group. That climb is just senseless.
