You forgot me. I'm doing the metric with TnT. Look for an Asian guy (clydesdale) in a purple team in Training jersey and on a red/white Novara Trionfo REI bike.

I did part of the metric and part of the century routes this past Saturday - 50 miles give or take. The Marshall Wall, which is on the century route, was very challenging to me but I'm not a good climber.

The Bride and I just celebrated our 30th Anniversery (pearl) so I broke the piggy bank and found a real kick ass Pearl/diamond ring and reproposed to her again. She bought me a full Liquigas Kit! the cool new one with the blue tiger stripes. We we're both beside ourselves, happy....really wierd how men and women think, hmmm....... Oh BTW I'll be wearing my anniversery gift and riding on my over the top color Klein, so if your doing the marin century make sure your wearing sunglasses when you pass by me, I wouldn't won't anyone to go blind! : ) good luck on the ride! lotsa power bars

For our anniversary my husband & I bought each other handbuilt wheels - and it was my idea.

I'll be riding this custom RANS crank forward bike which is sort of a play on an upright with the larger seat pan and some of the ergo benefits of a recumbent. They climb quite well with a more close hip angle since the crank is further forward, and is easy on my wrist and shoulder that got jacked a few years ago when I took a spill on my Suzuki moto commuting down the Sunol grade. Been riding weekends (China Camp loop) and commuting one day per week (47mi round trip) to prep for Marin. I'll be in the REI shorts with hairy legs, with a Rivendell long sleeve searsuck shirt and yellow helmet riding this:

Sure thing SesameCrunch. These crank forward bikes are more road bikes that are soft around the edge's. They work quite well except in headwind where you torso is like a bill board, but my wrist and upper body never complain. Some folks are experimenting with different handlbar config's to get more aero into the wind. Yes, you can stand and even pedal, although it is a little awkward because you have to lean forward a bit. The best part is you can generate a massive amount of torque just stay planted in the saddle. It's almost like riding in the drops but rotated back 30° with regards to the hip/torso angle. I offer a one-week demo experience with home delivery if you are curious , and just do Spin on the side of my mechanical engr. day job.

I've finally cleared up my Saturday, so I'm definitely in. I just need to decide if I'm doing the double metric, or the century; and how I can get up there. Anyone want to car pool up Friday evening, from the San Jose area, and split hotel/gas costs?

A final chance at begging for a ride...

Anyone doing one of these rides, driving up from the San Jose area, and have room for another body? I'd like to do the Marin, or the double-metric, but I'm car-less. I'll chip in for gas, and if we go up Friday night and sleepover, pay my share of the hotel as well...

Sean - Thanks for getting me in touch with Andy, but... I just went to register for the Mt. Tam Century and the registration has closed due to maximum capacity. No registrations even the day of. I wonder if I could ride it, and no one would notice...

The Marin Cyclist site says that they will be ID'ing... but I don't know if I believe them. Also, if I use a metric registration to do the Mt. Tam Century, I'm going to have trouble with them letting me start at the earlier start time... and the poor guys ride results will look bad when times get posted.

im going also its my first even but i have a question i have a tri bike with drops. i know on criterium u cant have the aero bars but are they allowed at the marin century. thanks

Can't you ride the route without using the rest stops? It's a public road after all.

No rule against it as far as I know. I see a lot of aero bars on the centuries and doubles I ride.

I'll be far behind you all suffering through the double. Looks like the weather will be great.
